Despite its potential, AI can also threaten the foundational values of human civilization enshrined in the UN Charter and Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Can humanity's values withstand AI's disruptive force? or should they be adjusted to better protect individuals in the digital age, articulating a new generation of human rights, such as algorithmic rights and neurorights?

The use of AI in critical societal functions challenges core legal principles, including responsibility, remedies, inclusivity, and accountability.

The challenge is to integrate AI equitably and responsibly in a way that promotes human dignity while preventing new inequalities in access, influence, and opportunity.

The goal is not to resist AI out of fear but to harness its power in service of human dignity and freedom. By aligning artificial intelligence with human values, this approach seeks to safeguard AI as a shared global resource that reinforces the foundations of humanity.

The current AI and Human Rights projects include the following:

• Reconsidering Human Rights Principles in the context of AI for a harmonious integration of humans, machines, and the environment
• Supporting the development of a taxonomy of Human Rights in the age of AI
• Aligning AI organizational governance with human rights risks through concrete mitigation measures
• Factoring Human Rights in AI design methodologies to address inclusivity, sustainability, and accountability.
• Building a holistic assessment methodology that considers AI organizational profiles, lifecycle involvement stages, and operational contexts.
• Reflecting the resulting principles into the tools of AI development
• Making the AI Common accessible to all, as a Human Right
